The Altstadt of Bludenz

Altstadt is the old town of Bludenz and it is of a striking beauty, largely due to the narrow streets and tiny houses built in Baroque architectural style . The air breathes history in these places and invites visitors to serve an evening meal in one of the traditional restaurants in the area or to walk along the shops that sell souvenirs. Above the old town raises the parish church of Saint Lawrence, a structure dating from the sixteenth century. Right next to it is the Schloss Gayenhofen, a palace built between 1222-1245 , under the guidance of architect Franz Andra von Sternbach in Baroque style. Today this building serves as the headquarters of the local authorities.
