Bregenz is the capital of the Austrian state Vorarlberg and a cultural and a relaxing center on the eastern shore of Lake Constance.

It is located at an altitude of 400 m, at the foot of Mount Pfänder at the border between Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Bregenz is a small town of 27,000 inhabitants with approximately 200,000 visitors annually.

Bregenzer Festspiele Music Festival and the Floating Opera

This destination is famous for its summer music festival, Bregenzer Festspiele. Bregenz has a floating opera, situated near St Martin’s Tower and a stage on the Lake of Constance. This is the largest floating opera theater and plays another piece of work every two years. You may have seen many opera performances on stages around the world, but you should not miss this one.

House of Arts

The House of Arts is a unique tourist attraction and was opened in 1997. The museum stands in the light of the Lake of Constance, so it has a very special location. Made of glass and steel, the art museum has an impressive interior. Tourists can enjoy the differet exhibitions on three floors. It is interesting is that the ceiling height differs on the three levels.

Vorarlberg Museum

The Vorarlberg Museum is a very interesting tourist attraction in Bregenz, a center for collecting and preserving cultural treasures. It is opened to the public and is based primarily on archeology, history and art history, but also exhibits folk art pieces.

Tower of Saint Martin

The Tower of Saint Martin is one of the most important tourist attractions in Bregenz, where tourists can enjoy a stunning view of the surroundings, which includes the Alps, the nearby Lake Constance, and the city. The tower was built between 1599 and 1602, and today is a symbol of the city.

The Tower of Saint Martin is located in the medieval city center of Bregenz. The first level hosts a local museum, named the Heimatsmuseum and downstairs is a small chapel, called the Chapel of Saint Martin.

Each of the four sides of the tower has three different sized windows, and a few decorations. The roof has an interesting shape, being half red and half gray.
